Schneemann, Glozman overpower Jones, Black for first title together

Lacy Schneemann was already having a pretty good day after she secured her maiden PPA title in mixed doubles with Tyson McGuffin, but with the women’s doubles final now in the books, her day has only continued to improve.

She and Vivian Glozman put on a supremely impressive performance in that match against top seeds Allyce Jones/Tyra Black, coming away with an 11-7, 11-3, 7-11, 11-9 victory.

Jones and Black are two players who are known for their defense and athleticism, but Schneemann and Glozman were able to break through those defenses and frequently gained the upper hand in kitchen rallies.

“We knew they were going to scrap out some crazy points and get a little bit of momentum that way, but I think we locked it down at the end,” Schneemann said of the performance. “I love playing alongside Viv. She’s a beast.”

This win gives Glozman her first career PPA title after earning silver at the Los Angeles Open back in April of 2024, also alongside Schneemann.

Winning gold is a fitting end to her time in Australia.

“I wouldn’t want to do this with anyone else. Lacy is one of my best friends on tour,” she mentioned. “We also traveled through Sydney all of last week, so we had a great time coming into this tournament, and it honestly couldn’t have ended any better.”

In the bronze medal match, No. 3 seeds Jessie Irvine/Alix Truong defeated No. 5 seeds Emilia Schmidt/Danni-Elle Townsend by an 11-3, 5-11, 11-4 score line.
