Todd survives comeback bid from Buckner, prevails in roller coaster match
In the final match of the day, Parris Todd outdueled No. 3 seed Brooke Buckner by a wild 11-2, 12-14, 11-9 score line.
Todd started off strongly and took full advantage of several errors from Buckner on routine balls. That helped her comfortably take the opening game and earn a match point at 10-5 in the second.
At that moment, though, something seemed to click for Buckner. She dialed in the power and precision that helped her become a seven-time singles medalist in 2024 and saved four match points to shockingly send the match to Game 3.
Buckner rode that wave of momentum to a 5-2 lead in the decider, but an eight-point run put Todd in the exact same position she had been in just a game earlier: with a 10-5 advantage and a chance to close out the match.
Two match points later, Todd closed out the encounter at the sixth time of asking.

Todd will face 1) Christian on Sunday
It was a match that put Todd’s mental fortitude to the test.
“I felt like I was cruising, and then Brooke just started hitting winners left and right. I really just had to play within myself and find a way through in the third game and not think about all the match points I had lost earlier,” she shared.
Todd is now on the cusp of earning her second career PPA singles title—and her first since winning the 2022 Orange County Cup.
Kaitlyn Christian stands between her and the gold.
