6:05pm MDT: Singles semifinal matchups set
With Parris Todd's 4-11, 11-4, 11-3 victory over Catherine Parenteau to close out Wednesday's action at Little Valley Sports Complex, the singles lineup is set for Semifinal Saturday.
Here are the matchups:
Men's Singles
- No. 3 Connor Garnett v. No. 7 Jack Sock
- No. 2 Hunter Johnson v. No. 5 Quang Duong
Women's Singles
- No. 1 Anna Leigh Waters v. No. 3 Lea Jansen
- No. 2 Kaitlyn Christian v. No. 4 Parris Todd
5:15pm MDT: Waters, Jansen set semifinal clash
For the third tournament in a row, Anna Leigh Waters and Lea Jansen will face off late in the women's singles draw.
Both players advanced to the semifinals with straight-game victories on Wednesday afternoon.
Waters defeated No. 25 seed Cailyn Campbell 11-2, 11-2; Jansen dispatched No. 18 seed Jalina Ingram 11-7, 11-3.
The two squared off in the finals in Cape Coral and the semifinals in Texas, with Waters winning both bouts in straight games.
We'll see if Jansen can turn the tide when the two meet on Saturday with a spot in the finals on the line.
4:40pm MDT: Sock avenges 2024 defeat, downs Staksrud in three games to make semifinals
Jack Sock rounded out men’s singles quarterfinal action with an 8-11, 12-10, 11-9 victory over top-seeded Federico Staksrud in what may very well go down as the match of the day at Little Valley Sports Complex.
The two actually faced off for gold at this very tournament in 2024, with Staksrud winning in three games.
Sock made sure that he didn’t meet the same fate on Wednesday afternoon.
The No. 7 seed did face a match point in the second game at 9-10, but he caught fire with the forehand and reeled off three points in a row to force a decider.
He again trailed 6-8 in Game 3, but the former tennis star rose to the occasion in the match’s biggest moments to avenge his 2024 defeat and advance to the semifinals.
Sock says the key to raising his level is focusing on enjoying the sport above any pressures that come with competing at the highest level.
“I’ve said from the beginning that if you’re not having fun playing pickleball when you’re out here doing this as a career, then something’s wrong,” he noted. “So, I try to enjoy every moment. I think when I’m loose and kind of having fun is when I play my best anyway.”
No. 3 seed Connor Garnett awaits Sock in Saturday’s semifinal.
4:05pm MDT: Christian outlasts Schaefer in three games
In 2024, Kaitlyn Christian won a three-game epic against Dominique Schaefer in the quarterfinals of the Red Rock Open.
At the same tournament nearly a year later, she's done the same thing. Christian is into the women's singles semifinals after an 11-6, 8-11, 11-9 triumph over Schaefer in a contest that lasted over an hour.
She will continue her quest for her third title of the 2025 season this weekend when she faces either Parris Todd or Catherine Parenteau in the semifinals.
3:30pm MDT: H. Johnson, Duong set semifinal clash with straight-game triumphs
Hunter Johnson and Quang Duong marched into the men's singles semifinals with impressive quarterfinal victories Wednesday afternoon.
Johnson did so with an 11-6, 11-2 victory over No. 9 seed Gabe Joseph on Grandstand Court, and Duong followed suit with an 11-3, 11-4 triumph over No. 34 seed James Ignatowich on Humana Championship Court.
The two will have to wait until Saturday to see who makes the final in Utah.
2:50pm MDT: Garnett outduels Alshon in three games
Connor Garnett emerged victorious from one of the best matches of the day so far at Little Valley Sports Complex, coming away with a 10-12, 11-8, 11-8 victory over No. 6 seed Christian Alshon.
Garnett squandered a 10-8 lead and two game points in the opening game, as Alshon scored four in a row to gain the early advantage.
That didn’t deter the No. 3 seed, however, as he comfortably took Game 2 and jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the decider.
Alshon eventually brought the score to 8-10 in that third game, but Garnett closed out the contest a few moments later to advance to the semifinals.
Alshon had been on a tear in March with back-to-back singles titles in Cape Coral and Texas, but Garnett handed him his first loss of the month on the singles court.
“It was a great battle. A lot of points were so close there and could have gone either way,” Garnett said of the performance. “Christian’s a great competitor, and obviously what he’s been able to do the last couple tournaments has been awesome. It’s just been fun to be out here and play against him.”
Garnett will face either No. 1 seed Federico Staksrud or No. 7 seed Jack Sock in the semifinals on Saturday.
2:25pm MDT: Women's singles quarterfinals set
Here are the four quarterfinal matchups in women's singles:
- No. 1 Anna Leigh Waters v. No. 25 Cailyn Campbell
- No. 3 Lea Jansen v. No. 18 Jalina Ingram
- No. 2 Kaitlyn Christian v. No. 7 Dominique Schaefer
- No. 4 Parris Todd v. No. 5 Catherine Parenteau
2:20pm MDT: Ingram ousts Bouchard in straight games
17-year-old Jalina Ingram closed out women's singles Round of 16 action with an 11-6, 12-10 victory over No. 8 seed Genie Bouchard.
It looked like Bouchard would force a third game when she got up 9-2 in the second, but Ingram saved one game point and eventually came all the way back to end the contest in straight games.
She will face No. 3 seed Lea Jansen with a spot in the semifinals on the line.
1:50pm MDT: Men's singles quarterfinals set
Here are the four quarterfinal matchups in men's singles:
- No. 1 Federico Staksrud v. No. 7 Jack Sock
- No. 3 Connor Garnett v. No. 6 Christian Alshon
- No. 2 Hunter Johnson v. No. 9 Gabe Joseph
- No. 5 Quang Duong v. No. 34 James Ignatowich
1:25pm MDT: Late run lifts H. Johnson over Campbell in three games
Hunter Johnson overcame a late deficit to defeat No. 16 seed Cason Campbell by a 10-12, 11-2, 11-6 score line.
The No. 2 seed seemed to be in trouble when he was trailing 2-6 at the side switch in the deciding game, but he went on to score the match's final nine points to advance to the quarterfinals.

No. 9 seed Gabe Joseph awaits Johnson in the next round.
1:15pm MDT: Ignatowich surges into quarterfinals
James Ignatowich is into the men's singles quarterfinals after a grueling 7-11, 12-10, 11-7 victory over No. 14 seed Zane Ford.
The No. 34 seed was on the brink of defeat facing match point at 8-10 in the second game, but he fought through it to force a decider.
From there, he jumped out to leads of 6-1 and 9-4 in Game 3 that helped him eventually close out the contest after just under an hour on court.
Ignatowich will next face No. 5 seed Quang Duong with a spot in the semifinals on the line.
12:40pm MDT: 14-year-old Campbell stuns reigning champ Brascia
Cailyn Campbell defeated reigning Red Rock champion Mary Brascia 13-11, 11-6 to advance to the women's singles Round of 16 in St. George.

Campbell, who is just 14 years old, came through Wednesday morning's qualifying round.
She says that finding her best level helped her take down the No. 6 seed in straight games.
"I feel really good," she noted. "I was just playing my game, and that's probably the best I've played in a while."
She will next face No. 22 seed Victoria DiMuzio with a spot in the quarterfinals on the line, after watching her older brother and fellow pro, Cason Campbell, take on No. 2 seed Hunter Johnson in the men's singles Round of 16.
12:05pm MDT: Sock outlasts Rahachou in three games
Jack Sock began his Red Rock campaign with an 8-11, 11-6, 11-1 victory over No. 25 seed Spartak Rahachou.
The tournament marked Sock's only Championship Sunday appearance of the 2024 season, so the former tennis star will be looking to make another deep run this week.
He will next face qualifier and No. 41 seed Rafael Lenhard—who upset No. 10 seed Pablo Tellez earlier in the day—for a spot in the quarterfinals.
11:35am MDT: Newcombe stuns Bellamy in three games
Rio Newcombe is into the men's singles Round of 16 after an 11-8, 8-11, 12-10 victory over No. 8 seed Roscoe Bellamy.

He will next face No. 9 seed Gabe Joseph—who beat Adam Harvey in three games earlier—with a spot in the quarterfinals on the line.
11:30am MDT: Ignatowich dominates Martinez Vich in 16-minute rout
James Ignatowich delivered what could go down as one of the most shocking results of the day, taking down No. 4 seed Jaume Martinez Vich 11-1, 11-0 in a contest that lasted just over 16 minutes.
The No. 34 seed—who doesn't even play singles at every tournament—will look to maintain his strong form when he faces No. 14 seed Zane Ford in the Round of 16.
Women's singles qualifiers
Here are the three players who fought through the women's singles qualifying draw Wednesday morning, and who they'll face in the Round of 32.
- E. Elenga Satuala will play No. 7 seed Dominique Schaefer.
- Cailyn Campbell will play No. 6 seed Mary Brascia.
- Riley Hanks will play No. 12 seed Milan Rane.
11:25am MDT: Qualifiers Lenhard, Parrish score upsets
Qualifiers Rafael Lenhard and Ty Parrish surged into the Round of 16 with upset victories on Wednesday morning.
Lenhard defeated No. 10 seed Pablo Tellez 11-8, 5-11, 11-6, while Parrish beat No. 11 seed Yates Johnson 11-5, 11-5.
Lenhard will face either Jack Sock or Spartak Rahachou in the Round of 16, while Parrish will next take on No. 6 seed Christian Alshon.
10:55am MDT: Late run lifts Rahachou over Akin in three games
Spartak Rahachou is into the Round of 32 after a 12-10, 1-11, 11-9 victory over No. 40 seed Troy Akin.
The No. 25 seed trailed 2-8 in the deciding game, but he scored nine of the match's final ten point to come all the way back and steal the victory.

He had a particularly impressive display of kitchen coverage with Akin serving at 9-10, prompting Akin to exclaim "That's f***ing unbelievable, dude!"
Rahachou would win the next point after a missed return to seal the deal.
He will face No. 7 seed Jack Sock next.
Last-minute withdrawals
No. 21 seed Blaine Hovenier and No. 22 seed Augie Ge withdrew from singles competition Tuesday evening.
Both players are still expected to compete in the mixed doubles and men's doubles draws later in the week.
As a result of these withdrawals, No. 41 seed Rafael Lenhard and No. 44 seed Ty Parrish will advance to the Round of 32.
Lenhard will face No. 10 seed Pablo Tellez, while Parrish will play No. 11 seed Yates Johnson.
