2:35 p.m. CT: Waters and Waters Clinch Semis Berth

The #2 seeds Anna Leigh Waters and Leigh Waters continue to impress.

The pair made relatively easy work of the #7 seeds Mary Brascia and Maggie Brascia in the quarters, 11-3, 11-5, to punch their ticket to the semis.

"I'm having fun. How could you not have fun playing next to your kid, right? We're having a blast," confirmed Leigh. "We're trying to play our best pickleball, but remember to have a lot of fun too. That's when we play our best, and I think we're succeeding with that."

The mother-daughter duo will face the winner of the quarterfinal match between #4 Allyce Jones and Tina Pisnik and #8 Genie Erokhina and Tammy Emmrich.

2:10 p.m. CT: Wright, Koller Advance To Semis

The #4 seeds Matt Wright and AJ Koller booked a spot in the semis with a 12-10, 5-11, 11-5 victory over the #8 seeds Marshall Brown and Rafa Hewett.

1:40 p.m. CT: Bright, Kawamoto Advance To Semis

Top seeds Anna Bright and Jackie Kawamoto are heading to the semifinals following a straight-games 12-10, 11-6 victory over #6 Lea Jansen and Kate Fahey.

Bright and Kawamoto were actually leading 10-0 in the first game, before Jansen and Fahey managed to even things up with a serious blitz of their own.

That certainly made things interesting early.

"It's easy to talk about the 10-point comeback, but thankfully we did give ourselves a 10-point buffer, which did end up being very mission critical there for us," said Bright. "We started pretty perfect, and they were not at their best, and then it kind of swapped and they played really perfect. It's sometimes tough to adjust to that very quick increase in level. Thankfully, we were able to just hold them off."

Bright and Kawamoto await the winner of the quarterfinal battle between #3 Jorja Johnson/Tyra Black and #5 Meghan Dizon/Alix Truong in the next round.

1:10 p.m. CT: Tellez, Bar Advance To Semis

The #2 seeds Pablo Tellez and Dekel Bar were pushed to the limit in a quarterfinal matchup with #6 Augie Ge and Eric Oncins that went three games and lasted over an hour.

Tellez and Bar still managed to come away victorious, securing an 8-11, 11-4, 12-10 triumph to punch their ticket to the semis.

The tandem awaits the winner of the quarterfinal battle between #4 Matt Wright/AJ Koller and #8 Marshall Brown/Rafa Hewett in the next round.

12:42 p.m. CT: Waters and Waters Continue Their Run

The mother-daughter duo is in yet another quarterfinal together after eliminating Helen To and Michelle Murphy 11-0, 11-2.

"When I was like 10 and 11, I was lucky to be invited to her [Leigh's] groups and to play some games with her," AL enthused after their earlier match. "Then we started playing, and she was number one in the world before I was, so I definitely looked up to her a lot. It felt pretty surreal playing on the court with her. I have some crazy weird pickleball dreams sometimes, so I'm like, 'Am I just dreaming on the court right now? Is this actually happening? Is this actually real?' But yeah, I was just trying to soak it up."

Team Waters have 8 PPA titles together and are looking to add one more to their collection here in Daytona.

12:30 p.m. CT: Women's Seeds Stay Intact

So far, most of the top seeds on the ladies' side have sailed through play on Saturday, with the pairings of #1 Anna Bright/Jackie Kawamoto and #6 Kate Fahey/Lea Jansen set to face each other in the quarterfinals.

Just below in the brackets, #3 Tyra Black/Jorja Johnson and #5 Alix Truong/Meghan Dizon will also go head-to-head in the QFs. The bottom half of the women's QFs has yet to be determined.

12:05 p.m. CT: Staksrud and Patriquin Move Into the Semis

The #1 seeds surge forward, eliminating Pesa Teoni and Ryan Fu in the Quarterfinals 11-4, 11-6 and looking very confident together. No surprises here - this partnership has won every tournament they've entered together - three in total.

In the post-match interview, the two were asked about whether the recent news about the split between Ben and Collin Johns would change anything about their intended partnership for next year.

"Nah, me and Fed next year," Patriquin said. "I don't know what Ben's gonna do, I don't know what Gabe's gonna do, but I guess we'll have to find out."

"Don't forget about Collin," Staksrud responded. "Collin is looking for partners too, he's a great player too."

#3 Andrei Daescu/CJ Klinger are set to face the #1 seeds in the semis, after dropping a total of only 19 points in their first three rounds.

11:29 a.m. CT: Mama Waters and Baby Waters Through the Round of 32

The biggest news going into Daytona Beach was that Anna Leigh Waters would take the court once more alongside her mom, Leigh Waters. The two were a set partnership until Leigh Waters tore her ACL during a tournament at the end of 2022, sidelining her for the 2023 season to get surgery and recover. In 2024, Anna Leigh continued playing with her new set partner, Catherine Parenteau, with Leigh on the bench as her coach.

The Waters announced that they would return to the court together in their home state of Florida for the last tournament of 2024 and are showing that they haven't lost their magic together, beating Samantha Greenhut and Kelsey Laurente 11-2, 11-3.

“I mean, honestly just the fact that she asked me,” Leigh said, when asked about what inspired her to return to the court. “I knew that Catherine wasn’t playing, I actually thought this was our break [...] and two weeks ago, Anna Leigh said, ‘mom, let’s play,’ and I was like, ‘a little notice would have been nice!’ but actually it turned out good because I didn’t have time to get super nervous about it.”

11:05 a.m. CT: Seeds Holding True to Start the Day

#1 and #2 seeds, Anna Bright/Jackie Kawamoto and Tyra Black/Jorja Johnson, respectively, come through their round of 32, with Bright/Kawamoto only allowing a single point. Black/Johnson were pushed to three games against Alexa Schull and Ava Cavataio, but come out on top.

Black and Johnson were MLP teammates on the Dallas Flash this year, winning the 2024 MLP title and finding all kinds of chemistry together, so it's no surprise to see them team up on the PPA Tour as well.

11:00 a.m. CT: #1 and #2 Seeds into the Quarterfinals

#1 Hayden Patriquin and Federico Staksrud breeze through the rounds of 32 and 16, taking down #32 Stephen Madonia and Grayson Goldin 12-10, 11-5, then following that victory up with a win over #16 Etienne Blaszkewycz and John Cincola 11-4, 14-12.

On the other side of the draw, #2 Dekel Bar and Pablo Bar find their stride together, taking down #31 Sergey Afanasenka and Rob Hutchins 11-5, 11-5, as well as #14 Collin Shick and Braden Shick 11-9, 11-8.

10:37 a.m. CT: New Partnerships and Upsets in the Round of 32

The slightly odd pairing of #13 Matt Wright and AJ Koller scrape through a close one against #30 Jorge Nunez and Zak Parks 11-4, 5-11, 11-4.

#25 seeds Drake Palm and Roman Estareja decimate #7 Wyatt Stone and Brandon French, allowing only one point: 11-0, 11-1.
