H. Johnson powers past Frazier into men’s singles final

Hunter Johnson claimed the second spot in the men’s singles final with an 11-8, 11-6 victory over No. 7 seed Dylan Frazier.

Frazier threatened to take the second game when he reeled off six points in a row, but Johnson ended the contest with an eight-point run of his own to make his first final of the 2025 season.

“It was a little bit windy today, so I just had to focus on hitting through the ball,” the No. 3 seed said of the performance. “Dylan’s always a tough guy because he covers the net really well, so I just had to stay down on my shots and not overplay.”

Johnson will now play for a title, but truthfully, that’s only the second coolest thing on his Sunday agenda.

That honor goes to being in a commercial for Michelob ULTRA alongside Parris Todd, Jaume Martinez Vich, and Emily Cederquist that will air during the Super Bowl.

“To be able to showcase pickleball on that stage and be involved is just super special and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” he said.

Before that, though, Johnson will have to earn his keep on the court. He’ll face No. 6 seed Christian Alshon for the gold.
