A visit to Chicken N Pickle was absolutely worth the trip
I finally visited Chicken N Pickle, people. And it was a blast.
The Grapevine, TX location definitely lived up to the incredible hype around the renowned indoor/outdoor entertainment chain that features a restaurant, sports bar, yard games, and a healthy supply of pickleball courts.
I reserved a court ahead of time and went on a double date with some friends to experience everything that the facility had to offer.
First and foremost, cleanliness is clearly a priority for this management group. The grounds are in tip-top shape everywhere you look. You can rent gear on-site, but I already brought my new Versix paddle with me this time around. My friends rented some pristine Selkirk paddles that were well maintained.
We had to play outside because the indoor and covered courts were absolutely packed. Two courts featured a painted Texas flag, which was an excellent touch. Even though it was extremely busy, it was still wonderful to see that empty court specifically reserved for us. What a beautiful sight!
During our match, a bartender frequently came by asking if we needed anything. Though I opted for water-based hydration, the service was excellent.
And the TVs satisfied the guys because it was a college football game day.
There was a birthday party with catering and bartenders on the court next to us, so now I want to have my next celebration here.
We hit up the restaurant after the match, and I had to try the chicken. It was delicious. I highly recommend the rotisserie chicken meal following your pickleball sweat session.
Overall, the experience was delightful. I highly recommend you make plans to visit. While it’s a more casual venue reminiscent of an outdoor brewery with cornhole and ping pong, it hits the mark in every way.
I already want to go back.
If you plan on visiting Chicken N Pickle, keep this in mind:
I recommend planning your visit in advance. I reserved my court a few days ahead of time, and the only available courts were outside and uncovered.
Even though it’s technically fall, it’s still extremely hot in Texas. We were basically at the mercy of the elements. Luckily, no rain was in the forecast.
While reserving a court for an hour guaranteed us playing time, it came at a cost. Be aware that your closest Chicken N Pickle location will have a court reservation fee that could get pricey.
Cost and heat aside, Chicken N Pickle didn't disappoint. You'll love it, too!
